I bought a non working Sega Game Gear. It sure does look great on the outside, and is complete, including both battery covers.
The description says: ‘not turning on’. That is usually a sign of bad capacitors. The Sega Game Gear is known for it’s eletrolytic capacitors going bad. On the main board as well as on the power board and the sound board.
Depending on the amount of capacitor leakage it can be an easy repair, or a very challenging repair with trace repairs. And even when it is all working, there is still a chance that the screen has gone bad. So buying a broken Sega Game Gear is always a bit of a gamble. Let’s see what we have here.
